KARACHI: Police conducted search operations in the wee hours of Wednesday in various areas of the metropolis, detaining at least 35 suspects.

According to police, six suspects were taken into custody after a search operation near Northern Bypass.

Police arrested at least 29 suspects, during overnight search operations in the areas of PIB, Manghopir, Madina Colony, Zaman Town, Tipu Sultan, Kemari, Gulberg and North Nazimabad.

Earlier, last week, in similar search operations by Karachi police, two suspects were taken into police custody during a search operation conducted in Sukhhan late Friday night.

Security officials recovered weapons, motorcycle, mobile phones, and contraband from the arrested suspects, police added.

In another operation late Friday night, police sealed the entry and exit points of Metroville and Pathan Colony.

The search operation, which was carried out following an anonymous tip, was mainly against criminals and illegal residents, police said.
