KARACHI: Police have detained 20 people for swimming at Karachi beaches, in spite of a ban in place, Geo News learnt Monday.

The Sindh government, on May 24, banned swimming at Karachi beaches for a period of six months. The restriction was imposed after twelve youngsters drowned while swimming at different beaches in the city in the month of May.

The citizens, like every other occasion, thronged beaches on Eid, where some of them violated the ban by stepping into the sea.

Police in order to prevent any untoward incident acted timely and detained 20 people.

On the other hand, the law enforcers cracked down on one-wheelers in Islamabad, who not only risk their lives, but others' as well by performing stunts on crowded thoroughfares.

They impounded around 200 motorbikes and fined their owners.
