ATTOCK: An oil tanker crashed on Khor road in Attock on Sunday after negotiating a steep curve while speeding, officials said.

The tanker, transporting around 50,000 litres of fuel, skidded off the road after the driver failed to control the speeding vehicle following a sharp turn, officials said, adding that no one was hurt in the incident.

Rescue teams, along with police reached the site after the driver informed authorities of the accident.

Police have set up a 500-metre perimeter around the crash site and are attempting to clear the wreckage carefully as oil is leaking from the tanker.

On Sunday morning, over 150 people were burnt to death and a large number injured with severe burn injuries as an overturned oil tanker exploded.

The victims included passers-by and residents, who had gathered to collect oil that was leaking from the tanker.

The death toll from the incident has now reached 197.
