KARACHI: Sadia, a bride-to-be from Karachi, was heartbroken to find that her dream to marry in Lucknow has been shattered after the Indian High Commission in Islamabad denied her and her family’s visa request.
The 25-year-old girl, as a last resort, turned to Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to look into the matter. Sadia put forth her plight to Swaraj on social media, but up till now failed to get a response.
The girl is to marry 28-year-old Syed on August 1 in Lucknow; unfortunately, the two’s nationality became a hurdle in their unison.
“Es beti ki help kariye (Please help this daughter). You are my only hope,” Sadia tweeted to Swaraj, according to Times of India.
In 2012, Sadia visited Lucknow and it was then her marriage was finalised. However, things took a murkier turn when the family of the bride was denied their visitor visa. The groom has also reportedly knocked on Swaraj’s door for help regarding the issue.
