The nation is being lied to, claims PML-N stalwart Daniyal Aziz

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) Daniyal Aziz demanded Volume 10 of the Panama case Joint Investigation Team (JIT) be made public.

The JIT, after submitting its report of the premier's assets, requested the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) to keep Volume 10 of the report, which deals with mutual legal assistance, from the public.

“Why is the report being hidden? Why is the legal section being hidden," asked the PML-N leader.

"If things are hidden from us, then we will have to wait for another Raymond Davis to write a book for us to find out the truth," claimed Aziz.

He added that those who clamoured for transparency are now in hiding.

“The nation is being lied to," alleged the PML-N stalwart.

Aziz added the court proceedings did not focus on the actual issues and the statement by Qatar's former prime minister should have been included in the statement.

'We just want justice for all'

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Amir Siraj-ul-Haq remarked that no one is or should be above the law.

“We do not want anyone to become a king and rule the country.”

The JI leader said the actions of the government have shown that it is using force to pressurise institutions.

“We hope that their efforts will prove to be unsuccessful.”

On tampering of records, he claimed that “the entire system has been tampered with and the institutions have been rendered helpless.”

“We just want justice for all.”

'Prime minister helped his family launder money'

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry said the present circumstances suggest that the premier would be indicted.

“I’m saying this because the Supreme Court has taken notice on other issues, [revolving] around the central issue [pertaining to Panama leaks].”

The PTI leader was referring to the notices the apex court has taken regarding the registration of a case against the chairperson of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and news items pertaining to the JIT report before it was submitted.

Chaudhry called for the immediate arrest of SECP Chairman Zafar Hijazi after the order was issued by the apex court.

He stressed that the probe of chairman SECP should also probe who issued the orders for tampering.

“Zafar Hijazi’s boss is Ishaq Dar, therefore it is likely that the SECP chairman did tampering at the behest of Ishaq Dar.”

Chaudhry also said the prime minister helped his family launder money.

“He also secretively earned money outside Pakistan.”
