KARACHI/LAHORE: Two additional names of cricketers have surfaced in connection with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot fixing probe.
“Representative of British National Crime Agency, Andrew Ephgrave mentioned two more Pakistani Cricketers while giving his statement to the tribunal,” said a source privy to matter.
“The PCB is now gathering more evidences related to this matter and will issue notices to these two cricketers after it has enough evidences in hand. These cricketers have remained part of Pakistan team in past,” the source added.
According to sources, the two players include a fast bowler and a middle order batsman, both of them featured in the second edition of PSL but were not included in Pakistan’s team that won the ICC Champions Trophy.
The spot fixing scandal surfaced earlier this year when two cricketers Khalid Latif and Sharjeel Khan were sent back from Dubai by PCB over alleged links with a syndicate that attempted to corrupt the PSL.
Following investigations names of Nasir Jamshed, Mohammad Irfan, Shahazeb Hassan and Mohammad Nawaz also emerged and the cricketers were summoned by PCB’s anti-corruption unit for investigations.
Irfan and Nawaz were suspended for one year and two months, respectively, after the duo admitted to have breached the Anti-Corruption code by not reporting the corrupt approaches made to them.
However, other players refused to accept the charges and are now pleading their case in the tribunal which is likely to conclude the proceedings by end of the month.
