The government on Saturday revised prices of petroleum products, reducing the price of petrol by Rs1.8 and the price of diesel by Rs2.5 from August 6.
"The price of petrol has been decreased by Rs1.8 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel has also been reduced by Rs2.5 for the month," said Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
Petrol will now be sold at Rs69.5 per litre and diesel at Rs77.9.
"The new prices will become effective from August 6," added the finance minister.
He said that as per schedule, the change in price of oil products was to be announced on July 31, however due to constitutional vacuum, it could not be done.
Prices of all other remaining petroleum products will remain unchanged.
