Accused opened fire at his sister and brother-in-law at the Lahore High Court's Multan Bench premises

MULTAN: A man shot dead his sister and injured his brother-in-law in the name of honour on the premises of a court here on Tuesday.

According to the police, Kalsoom was present at the Multan bench of Lahore High Court for hearing over a case when her brother Zulqarnain Haider opened fire at her and husband Ronat Ali. She was killed before getting her statement recorded.

Kalsoom, who belonged to Rajanpur, had married Ali out of her will some time back, which is why her family had filed a case against the man, police said.

Besides Ali, the firing left a lawyer passing by, Sohail, injured. Both the injured were under treatment at Nishtar Hospital while the body was in police custody when this report was filed.

The accused brother handed himself to the police after killing his sister.

Although lawyers in Multan were on a strike, the hearing was scheduled as protesters have split between two groups. One of the two groups continued the work, while the other boycotted.

The lawyers have beenon a strike since the past 14 days in Multan over the row between Lahore High Court Bar Association Multan President Sher Zaman and Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan over a case related to a mosque.
