Pakistan's 71st Independence Day celebrated in Jordan

AMAN: A flag-hoisting ceremony was organised here on the occasion of 71st Independence Day at the Chancery premises on August 14, 2017.

Lt. Gen. (retd) Shafaat Ullah Shah – the Ambassador of Pakistan – hoisted the national flag during the ceremony, wherein messages from the country's President and Prime Minister were shared with the audience.

During his remarks, the Ambassador talked about the struggles and sacrifices of Pakistani people, the contribution of Pakistan towards international peace efforts, the need to reflect on our failings as a nation, and to gear efforts for the country's solidarity and prosperity

The Ambassador also expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir and reiterated the significance of the region's cause for Pakistan.

The Ambassador congratulated Omar Nazar al Armouti – a prominent Jordanian author, historian, and journalist – for penning the first-ever book on Kashmir in the Arabic language.

In addition, he emphasised the importance of Pakistanis to remain patriotic, committed, and cognizant of individual roles in their respective areas of responsibility.

The ceremony was attended by the Embassy officials, officers of Pakistan's armed forces, prominent media personnel of Jordan, and the large Pakistani community in Jordan.
