PFA fines, seals fast food joints along motorway

The fast food joints at Sukheki stop were serving expired soft drinks and using low quality cooking oil

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed and fined on Sunday two fast food joints along the motorway and a Chinese restaurant in Lahore.

PFA officials, led by the authority’s chief Noorul Amin Mengal, conducted a raid on the Sukheki rest area along the Lahore-Islamabad motorway and sealed two fast food joints.

Officials said soft drinks at the outlets had expired whereas the cooking oil being used was of low quality. Moreover, they said the outlets had very poor hygiene conditions. The managementof both outlets was fined Rs50,000 each for the violations.

Similarly, in a raid at a Chinese restaurant on MM Alam Road in Lahore, the PFA found expired and stale food items being used in the kitchen.

The outlet was sealed and its operators fined Rs50,000.
