KARACHI: The police on Tuesday presented before an anti-terrorism court the Tehreek-e-Taliban member, Amjad Hussain, who is theprime accused in the Parveen Rehman murder case.

Rehman, who was the Director of the Orangi Pilot Project (OPP) was gunned down by four men in a targeted attack near the Banaras fly-over in OrangiTown in March 2013. She was a vocal activist working against land and water mafia in the city.

Khan was arrested from Karachi's Mangophir vicinity, on the directives of the Supreme Court issued onOctober 10.

According to the police, the accused confessed to Rehman's murder during the investigation.

The court, however, didn't grant the investigation officer's request to extend the accused's physical remand for further investigation and sent him to jail on judicial remand.

While the authorities have managed to nab Ahmad also known as Pappu Kashmiri, Imran Swati, and Rahim Swati, three suspects named in the case — Moosa, Ayaz Swati, and Shaldar Khan — are on-the-run to date.

The court directed the police to continue the investigations and present a progress report.

In November last year, Rahim had refused to accept the charges against him after he was indicted.
