ISLAMABAD:Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday took to Twitter and said the ultimate losers will be those on the wrong side of history for short-term gains and benefits.
The tweet by the former prime minister's daughter was a reaction to a video clip from a local news channel in which the PPP displayed its unwillingness to accept delimitation on the basis of the census.
“The matter is something else,” Maryam added in the tweet.
The two parties, PML-N and PPP, have been at odds in recent times.
Earlier today, PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira claimed that the PML-N does not want the democratic process to operate smoothly.
"Democracy doesn't suit the ruling party right now," Kaira claimed, "so the PML-N has been trying to push the institutions to their limits".
Discussing the possibility of early elections in Pakistan, Kaira remarked that his party believes in democracy and doesn't support the notion of early elections.
Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Monday rejected calls for early elections on Monday and said the assemblies will be dissolved on June 5, 2018, after completing their constitutional tenure.
Iqbal had further said all political parties of the country had agreed that the provisional results of the census would be used to hold the next general elections and it is not possible to conduct next year's elections on the results of the 1998 census.
He said it would be unfair to the smaller provinces if the elections are held on the results of the '98 census.
