TUNIS: Twenty-one people have died in recent rioting in Tunisia, Communications Minister Samir Laabidi told a news conference on Tuesday.

"Our numbers say there are 21 dead," Laabidi said, denying reports from labour and human rights activists of more than 50 dead in the unrest.

"Those who have spoken of 40 or 50 dead should produce a list of names," he said.
