COAS, CM Balochistan were briefed about the KHB project and the province's security environment

QUETTA: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting in Quetta to launch ‘Khushhal Balochistan’ initiative for development of the province.

General Bajwa visited the Headquarters of the Southern Command in Quetta on Thursday in connection with the execution of ‘Khush Hal Balochistan’ (KHB) initiative,the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The COAS and CM Balochistan Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zehri were briefed in detail about the socio-economic and security environment of the province and the execution of the KHB project.

Provincial administration and military commanders were also in attendance of the meeting.

According to the ISPR, all aspects in the security domain were approved by the COAS but a few aspects that required further deliberation on staff level will be finalised in the next few days.

The COAS said that the army shall provide full support to the federal and provincial governments for the success of the KHB initiative, adding that the program in fact is ‘Khush Hal Balochistan- Khush Hal Pakistan,’, the army’s media wing reported.

Balochistan’s chief minister appreciated the contributions of security apparatus for improving the stability in the province and support for the execution of the KHB plan.

General Bajwa upon arrival was received by Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa.

Director General ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor had earlier tweeted that the ‘Khushhal Balochistan’ project is all set to be launched, aimed at enduring stability through socioeconomic development and security in the province.

Earlier this month,Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had announced a 10-year development package for Balochistan.

“A ten-year package for Balochistan will be made, which will include natural gas, electricity, and water schemes,” he had said while announcing installation of LNG plants in each district of the province.
