LONDON: An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 struck Iran’s capital Tehran on Wednesday, the state television said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

According to the WashingtonPost, "the quake hit Meshkindasht, about 40 kilometres (25 miles) southwest of Tehran, at 23:28 Wednesday local time".

The quake was felt in several cities in Iran’s north, including Tehran. Rescue teams were sent to site.
