QUETTA: The Balochistan Home Department has withdrawn its order to probe the video recording of Saulat Mirza and has dissolved the one member committee comprising IG Jails formed for this purpose.

According to a statement issued by the Balochistan Home Ministry, there is no need for an investigation committee because Saulat Mirza’s black warrant has been issued.

Fresh death warrant was issued on Tuesday for Mirza’s execution which has been received by Machh Jail authorities in Balochistan. An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Karachi has directed Machh Jail officials to carry out his execution at 5:30 am on April 1.

On March 21, the ATC received a letter for the new execution date from prison administration at Machh Jail.

Sources said the prison administration requested for Mirza’s death warrant again.

On March 18, following his revelations just hours before the death sentence was to be carried out, instructions to differ Mirza’s execution for 72 hours were received by jail authorities.
