PESHAWAR: Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (PESCO) has huge outstanding arrears of Rs.861 million against federal government, semi-government and local bodies under federal government up to January 31, 2011.

The company has launched a grand operation for the recovery of arrears and removal of direct connections. The company has asked public and private defaulters to pay their outstanding arrears before 15th of the current month. Otherwise, the power supply to defaulter departments, offices and premises will be disconnected without any further notice.

According to the company SAFRON is defaulter of Rs.282 million, FATA Development Corporation Rs.278 million, GLs Army Rs.81 million, Cantonment Boards Rs.20 million, Frontier Constabulary Rs.14 million, Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Rs.14 million, Ministry of Railways Rs.11 million, Military & Scouts Rs.11 million, GM NTR-I Rs.11 million and Ministry of Education, Rs.10 million.

Besides, these organizations, Chief Engineer CRBC Project, Pakistan PWD, Peshawar University, Pakistan Council of Science and Industrial Research, Peshawar, GE Air Peshawar, Commissioner Afghan Refugees, University of Engineering & Technology, Military Diary Farm, Gomal University D.I. Khan, G.M Ghazi Barotha, NHA, Agriculture University Peshawar, Political Agent Kurram Agency, Income Tax Department, PA Orakzai Agency, G.M Hydel, PA Waziristan Agency, Pakistan Post Office, Hazara University and other departments are defaulters of more than million of rupees each.

The power company has asked the defaulter departments and private consumers to immediately pay their arrears dues and in case of their failure their power connections will be disconnected without further notice and power will not be restored till full payment.
