During his first set, Federer’s unique style of shot caught Wimbledon’s attention leading it to be dubbed as an almost “cricket” style. Wimbledon’s Twitter account then asked the ICC to rate Federer’s shot.

“Ratings for rogerederer's forward defense, ICC?,” Wimbledon wrote in a tweet with a video of the defensive shot.

The cricketing body also decided to indulge in some banter and quickly responded by ranking Federer as the number one Test batsman in the world.

The ICC shared an image of the Test rankings for batsmen which showed the 20-time Grand Slam winner as the number one batsman in the world.

The ICC even compared the Swiss to Tendulkar, with the help of a popular meme.

Not to be left behind, Tendulkar alsoinvited the Swiss tennis star to a session of exchanging notes on cricket after he wins his ninthWimbledon title.

"As always, great hand-eye co-ordination. rogerfederer, let’s exchange notes on cricket and tennis after you win your 9th Wimbledon title," Tendulkartweeted.

English bowler Stuart Broad also jumped into the conversation.

Federer will play South Africa's Kevin Anderson in the quarter-final at the All England Club on Wednesday.
