ISLAMABAD: Discussion was held on solid waste management, hygienic issues and importance of forestation on the second day of an environmental training of trainers (ToT) workshop.

The workshop on "Water & Environmental Sanitation & Hygiene Education in Urban Schools through Environmental clubs" has been organized by UN-HABITAT and Pakistan Institute for Environment Development Action Research (PIEDAR).

The purpose of the workshop is to bring awareness about pollution, waste management, hygiene issues, importance and preservations of forests among students and the formation of informal environmental clubs at school level.

A large number of teachers from the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, PIEDAR and UN-HABITAT trainers actively participated in the introductory session. The concluding session of the workshop will beheld on Friday with certificates distribution ceremony.(APP)
