KARACHI: The city was once again plunged into darkness as a major power outage kept citizens awake through Wednesday night.
This was the fifth power breakdown faced by the metropolis within a span of 25 days, withalmost half of the city without electricity overnight.
The affected areas included Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, F.B. Area, Bahadurabad, PECHS, PIB Colony, Jamshed Road, Jehangir Road, Nazimabad, Gulzar-e-Hijri, Shah Faisal Town, Landhi, Korangi, Malir, and Scheme 33.
When contacted, a spokesperson for K-Electric, Karachi's sole power supplier, said they had "received reports of power outage from few areas".
"Our teams are working to resume power in thecity," the spokesperson added.
Power was restored to majority of the areas after three to four hours.
