LAHORE: Amir Jamat-e-Islami Syed Munawar Hassan has urged the Ulema of various schools of thought to shun differences and perform the duty of forging unity among the nation so that the country could be pulled out of the present crisis, Geo News reported.

He was addressing the Ulema gathering from across the country at the concluding session of a three-day consultative meeting under the auspices of Jamiat Ittehad-ul-Ulema Pakistan here at Mansoora Auditorium.

The JI Amir blamed the ‘US conciliatory rulers (of Pakistan)’ for what he called the grave situation of the country ‘in order to gain personal benefits by mortgaging national integrity and honor’.

“The people are being deprived of basic essentials of life while the bank accounts of the rulers are showing billions’ worth of assets,” he maintained.

He said if the US had an iota of respect for our rulers and army, it would have stopped the drone strikes (within the territorial boundaries of Pakistan).
