SHEIKHPURA/SAHIWAL: At least seven people were killed and 18 injured in road accidents in Sheikhpur and Sahiwal areas of Punjab province on Friday night.

In Sheikhpura a rickshaw collided with an incoming oil tanker on Sargodha Road.

According to rescue sources, a man and his wife travelling in the rickshaw were killed along with four others, while one other was seriously injured.

The deceased and injured were shifted District Headquarters Hospital in Sheikhpura.

In another accident near Chichawatni Bypass, a passenger bus collided with an oil tanker, killing three people including two women and injuring 17 others.

Rescue officials said, the accident occurred due to the bus driver falling asleep behind the wheel. The bus was travelling from Multan to Lahore.
