KARACHI: Imran Ismail – the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate for the upcoming by-elections in NA-246, late on Friday demanded deployment of Army troops at the polling stations on the polling day (April 23).

Speaking to the media at the PTI election camp in the city’s Karimabad area, he said that the opponents Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) terms the Rangers paramilitary force biased. “No one would be able to call Army biased,” he added.

The PTI leader also demanded the Presiding Officers for the polls from outside Karachi and Sindh.

Commenting on the likely venue for his party’s upcoming rally in NA-246 constituency, Ismail said that the deputy commissioner has not responded regarding availability of Jinnah Ground and vowed to hold the rally on their own if a formal response was not received from the latter.

Ismail also contacted PTI Chairman Imran Khan for moving ahead the schedule of the rally from April 19 to April 23. During the telephonic conversation, he conveyed to the party chief that the rally on a later date would create more impact.

Responding to that, Khan said he was ready to arrive in Karachi whenever its citizens invite him and reportedly left the decision on Ismail.

They also agreed to announce the finalised schedule for the rally on April 12 (Sunday).
