LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Labour Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi Friday directed labour department officials to ensure the implementation of labour laws regarding weights and measurements.

He issued these directions during meetings with officers of Directorate Labour Punjab and Workers Welfare Board Punjab.

Director Labour, Secretary Workers Welfare Board and other officers attended the meetings.

He said that petrol pumps, CNG stations and shopkeepers responsible for the violation of laws should be prosecuted accordingly and their petrol pumps, CNG stations and shops should be sealed.

Qureshi also directed field officers to ensure the timely payment of minimum wages of Rs 7,000 per month by employers and use of approved weights and measurements.

Surprise visits should be made to ensure these steps as well as complete elimination of bonded and child labour, he added. (APP)
