Quetta officer detained over police brutality after viral video

When a passerby stopped to make a video, the officer snatched his phone and started slapping him as well

QUETTA: A police officer was suspended and then taken into custody Sunday night for beating up a citizen in public here in the city after a concerned citizen recorded and uploaded the video of the incident on social media.

In the video made on a mobile phone, police officers can be seen assaulting a rickshaw driver middle of the road and then, when a passerby stopped to make the video of the incident,hesnatched his phone and started slapping him as well.

The video also shows the officer harming the rickshaw and beating the driver after pulling him out of the rickshaw.

After the video went viral on social media, Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal took notice of the incident and the constable was suspended and taken into custody.

Despite one failed attempt at recording the incident, another citizen a few floors up in a building nearby made a video of the police brutality and posted it on social media.

As per Kamal's directives, an inquiry was commenced into thepolice brutality incident.
