MULTAN: The projects of Musa Pak Shaheed bridge in Jalalpur and Head Mohammad Wala between Muzaffargarh and Multan would ensure speedy transportation of business goods besides facilitating trade related activities in south Punjab.

Prime Minister's media coordinator Khawaja Rizwan Alam said that 80 per cent work on the two segments of the South Punjab development package has been completed and it shows commitment of the PPP-led government to serve the people of South Punjab and fulfill their development needs.

The two schemes and other communications development initiatives also including Multan-Khanewal section of the M4 motorway project would open up new avenues of opportunities for the neglected communities of southern Punjab, he added.

"The traffic moving to Layyah, Chowk Azam, Jhang and other areas from Multan would not need to pass through Muzaffargarh once the Rs 2376 million Head Mohammad Wala is completed".

Coordinator said Musa Pak Shaheed bridge in Jalalpur Pirwala would reduce distance between Karachi and Multan by around 100 kilometres.

He said that work was also in progress to build eight fly-overs in Multan under the Inner Ring Road initiative which wasdivided in three segments.

"Jinnah Chowk two-level fly-over would be the most beautiful interchange in the city that will not only facilitate the inter-city traffic but will also help lessen traffic problems during operation of intra-city traffic", he said.

Level one fly over has been completed while the level 2 was 45 per cent complete and it is expected to become operational sometime in July this year.

Chungi no 9 fly-over, Pul Mauj Darya fly-over, Nishtar fly-over and level one Jinah Chowk fly-over have already been made operational while 70 per cent work has been completed on double Phatak fly-over, 80 per cent on fly-over at Chungi No 8 where the work force was busy day and night to ease public hardship.
