PESHAWAR: The Pakistani Taliban on Friday claimed responsibility for bombing a US consulate convoy in the northwestern city of Peshawar and threatened further attacks against Western targets.

"We claim responsibility," spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan told an news agency by telephone from an undisclosed location.

"Our first enemy is Pakistan, then the United States and after that, other NATO countries," he added, alluding to those countries that have committed foreign troops to Afghanistan in a bid to put down a 10-year Taliban insurgency.

"Our men have penetrated all Pakistani cities and we will launch more such attacks in the future," Ehsan said.
