DAMASCUS: The death toll in Israeli troops firing on hundreds of pro-Palestinian Syrian protesters gathered at the Golan Heights has surged to 23, while hundreds were wounded.

Foreign TV reports said that the Israeli soldiers battling with the protesters who tried to cross over the border bar opened fires that sent the death toll to 23, while the wounded count to 325. A woman and a child were also included among those killed.

Palestinians and their Syrian supporters were among those hundreds of protesters were holding high Palestinian and Syrian flags in their hands. The protesters had gathered commemorating the completion of 44th year Arab Israel 1967 six-day war.
