To my knowledge, Ali Zaidi has wrapped up his clean Karachi campaign, says Saeed Ghani

KARACHI: Provincial Minister of Sindh for Local Government Saeed Ghani on Tuesday said Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi has made Karachi filthier and that he has wrapped up his cleaning campaign.

Speaking in Geo Pakistan, Ghani said forming committees and giving briefings will not solve Karachi’s issues. “To solve the issues, all the stakeholders need to work together. If the committee formed by the prime minister showed seriousness and asked for cooperation, the Sindh government would assist.”

He added no MNA or federal minister could exercise the powers of the mayor. “Unfortunately most of the PTI people do not know about the constitution and the law,” Ghani added.

Taking a jibe at Zaidi, Ghani said, the minister instead of cleaning up Karachi has spread more filth around. "According to my knowledge Zaidi has wrapped up his cleaning campaign," he added.

Last month, Zaidi had vowed to clean up Pakistan's commercial hub, Karachi, in just two weeks.

Zaidi announced his claim, saying he had built momentum for the clean-up campaign for Karachi and multiple organisations would be collaborating in the drive.

The minister had said they would remove garbage from the metropolis' six districts. The people of Karachi and the federal government, alongside FixIt founder and the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) member of the National Assembly (MNA), Alamgir Khan, would clean the city.
