RAWALPINDI: Ministry of Water and Power has decided to provide extra two million gallons water per day to Rawalpindi Cantt area to overcome water shortage in area.

PPI has learnt on Wednesday that cantt representative headed by CEO Rana Manzoor Ahmed held a meeting with additional secretary Ministry of Water and Power and informed him pertaining to the people's problems, especially of water shortage.

Advisior Khanpur Dam, CDA officials and other were present in the meeting, wherein it was decided that Ministry of Water and Power will provide two million gallons extra water to Cantt areas. The supply of additional water will resume in next three days.

According to CEO Cantt Rana Manzoor they are already getting nine million gallon per day from Khanpur Dam after the provision of extra two million gallon the amount of getting water will exceed to eleven thousand gallons per day.

He further said that Rawalpindi Cantt will compensate Ministry of Water and Power 1.5 million for the maintenance of khan Pur dam against this pact which should be hand over to concerned officials within two days or so. He reiterated that provision of basic necessities to cantt people is his prime responsibility and additional supply of water from Khan Pur Dam will overcome the sufferings of people.
