WATCH: Cyclone Kyarr waterlogs DHA Golf Club course in Karachi

A member of the DHA Golf Club says around 600m of the field has been submerged

KARACHI: The DHA Golf Club and Karachi Boat Club on Monday saw water enter their premises as a result of the rising water level due to Cyclone Kyarr.

The golf club’s holes number 6, 7 and 8 were flooded with water, with Captain Colonel (retd) Zahid Iqbal, a member of the club's administration, confirming toGeo News that around 500 to 600 metres of the course has been inundated with water, rendering the field unfit to host play.

Sindh Golf Association President Asad Khan revealed that the club's grass would be damaged by sea water, adding that it would take time to fix the damage.

The water also reportedly entered the gym at the golf club as shown in a photo making the rounds on social media.

Khan further said that, even if the water recedes swiftly, the salt in it would still have caused severe damage to the grass on the course.

Meanwhile, sea water also intruded into the parking area of the Karachi Boat Club.

Sources close to the matter said that the authorities were busy clearing out the water and that so far no damage has been caused to the boats.
