ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police on Wednesday nabbed 17 persons for their alleged involvement in drug peddling, keeping illegal weapons and recovered 125 bottles of liquor, 172 cans of beer, 2 kg hashish, 5.500 kg opium, four pistols, a gun, 10 small sacks of crackers, 215 grams heroin and brewing equipments from their possession, a police spokesman said.
After assuming the charge of IGP, Bani Amin Khan has categorically asked all SDPOs and SHOs to curb criminal activities in their areas. Following these directions, patrolling and efforts were enhanced to curb crime.
Getting significant success, Shehzad town police team including SHO Inspector Raja Tahir Hussain, ASIs Muhammad Haneef and Ghulam Mustafa arrested four bootleggers and recovered 105 bottles of wine, 40 cans of beer, fake labels, equipment used in brewing wine from them.
The arrested persons were identified as Aashir Maseeh, Aneel Maseeh, Hameed Maseeh and Javed Maseeh.
Investigation is underway from them and police are hopeful for more recovery from them.
ASI Muhammad Iqbal from Shalimar police station apprehended a Nigerian national Ezema from a restaurant in Sector G-10/4 and recovered 28 bottles of wine and 128 cans of beer from him. Sub-Inspector Muhammad Aslam from Golra police arrested a drug pusher Mehboob ur Rehman and recovered 1.540 kg hashish from him.
SHO Sabzi Mandi police station Inspector Ghulam Muhammad Baqir, Sub-Inspector Asjad Mehmud and others apprehended Rani Bibi, Zahida Bibi, Noor Feeroz, Ajab Din for possessing 5.500 kg opium and 660 grams hashish.
Sub-Inspector Ameer Muhammad from Golra police arrested an accused Riaz for having 12 bore gun while ASI Ghulam Abbass recovered 10 small bags of crackers from Zahid Hussain.
ASI Tipu Sultan from Tarnol police station apprehended Razaq Khan, Siraj, Rehman Gul and recovered one pistol each of 30 bore from them. ASI Bin Yameen Gohar from Nilore police arrested Nadeem for having 30 bore pistol while Sub-Inspector Muhammad Abbas from Koral police station apprehended an accused Arshad for possessing 215 gram heroin.
Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan and SSP Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan have appreciated this performance of policemen who nabbed these outlaws and further directed to enhance vigilance in their areas to curb crime.
