KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik have directed law enforcement agencies to take strict measures to ensure law and order in Karachi, Geo News reported on Friday.
This they said this while addressing the high-level meeting on law and order at Chief Minister House.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah issued orders to law enforcers to shoot terrorists and miscreants at sight.
The Chief Minister and the Interior Minister also directed the LEAs to start crackdown against the miscreants without any discrimination so as to protect the life and property of common men.
The meeting decided that police and Rangers will have full powers to ensure peace and maintain law and order in the port city.
The meeting was held on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari, which was attended by IG Sindh, Wajid Ali Durrani,Acting Director General Rangers, Sindh, Brig. Zafar Iqbal, CCPO Karachi, Saud Mirza and other notables.
Addressing the meeting, Sindh CM expressed grief over present situation in the city and urged the law enforcement agencies (LEA) to use all resources to eliminate miscreants.
The Sindh CM directed LEAs to take effective measures to ensure protection of life and property of the people.
The participants of meeting were given a detailed briefing about prevailing law and order situation in the city.
The Sindh CM directed police and Rangers to immediately arrest terrorists, miscreants and anti-social elements.
The meeting also decided to increase police and Rangers’ patrolling across the metropolis.
It also discussed further steps to control law and order and ensuring protection of life and property of the people.
The participants also agreed to take action against terrorists regardless of political or other affiliation.
APP adds: Talking to media at Karachi airport, Federal Interior Minister, Rehman Malik said Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel would also be deployed in Karachi to maintain law and order situation.
He said those FC personnel, who are available in the city, will be ready and deployed by 10 am on July 8, while 1000 more FC men will also reach Karachi in a day or two.
The Federal Interior Minister said he has come to Karachi on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari, to look into the situation.
He said no operation would be launched in Karachi, only targeted action would be taken against terrorists and miscreants.
Rehman Malik said the terrorists and miscreants want to de-stabilize the country. He appealed to all political parties, not to allow any third party to take advantage of the situation. (Geo Urdu/APP)
