Heavy rain exposes height of negligence

SIALKOT: The heavy rain, today (Friday) badly exposed the alleged height of negligence of Sialkot TMA due to which all the main city roads including Kutchery Road, Paris Road, Abbot Road, Jail Road, Railway Road, Mujahid Road, Commissioner Road, congested Allama Iqbal Chowk, Khadim Ali Road, Sialkot Airport Road and Hajipura Road and all the surrounding congested residential, industrial and commercial areas (including Sialkot railway station, Sialkot district jail and all the main and link roads leading towards the Sialkot International Airport) were inundated with the rainy and sewerage water. All the decades old chowked sewerage and drainage lines were over flowed due to rain in Sialkot city.

Expressing grave concern over this pathetic situation, Muhammad Anwar Khan (President Shehar-e-Iqbal Welfare Sialkot) said that the Sialkot TMA has allegedly miserably failed to give any relief to the perturbed people.

He said that electricity and telecommunication systems were badly damaged in Sialkot due to which the electricity remained suspended almost the whole day today due to which the electrical motors meant for spilling out the drainage and rain water, as the Sialkot city remained inundated the whole day, badly paralyzing all the civic, business, trade and social activities.

The Sialkot region received heavy rain followed by the heavy wind storm. The heavy rain also badly affected the electricity and communication systems due to which the supply of electricity remained suspended for almost the whole day in urban and especially rural areas of Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils.

It remained dark cloudy with the loud thunder of the clouds. Rain began very early in this morning and remained continued the whole day. The rain also inundated all the low-lying urban and rural areas of Sialkot region, which paralyzed all the political social, trade and business activities, besides, forcing the people to come out on the roads and in the streets to enjoy. The sizzling hot weather beaten people enjoyed much the pleasant weather after the most awaited wide-spread heavy rain in Sialkot region, as the winds continuously blew making the weather much pleasant.

On the other hand, the paddy growers have warmly welcomed this heavy rain and they have termed this rain as most awaited and most conducive for the under cultivation paddy crops in Sialkot region (a hub of producing the best quality bumper paddy yields).

The concerned officials of Sialkot MET office have forecast more wide-spread heavy rains in the Sialkot region and in all the catchment areas of neighbouring Occupied Jammu & Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
