RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed has urged the people particularly traders to cooperate with the administration in special drive being launched here on Tuesday against anti-adulteration, hoarding and land grabbers.

Talking to a traders delegation he said, according to the schedule, the special drive is also being launched in three other districts of the division. A seven-member high-powered monitoring committee has been constituted to oversee one-month long drive, he said.

People should come forward and play their role in this regard, he said adding, with the cooperation of the citizens, the violators of the law could be brought to justice particularly those who are playing with the health of the people.

The drive would check the sale of impure and adulterated daily use items, overcharging, hoarding and less weighing, he said.

The committee constituted in this regard will monitor the anti-adulteration drive. A control room has also been set up in the commissioner`s office which could be contacted on phone No 9270680 where the consumers can lodge their complaints, he said.

He directed the officials concerned to launch crack downs against the elements involved in adulteration particularly of essential items and hoarders in the division.

Commissioner Rawalpindi said, strict action on the special directives of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif would be taken without any discrimination against the violators of the law. The samples of food, beverages, cooking oil, milk, petroleum products and other items would be collected from the city markets and sent to the Labs. Stringent action in accordance with the law would be taken against those, found guilty of adulteration, he said.

He informed the construction work of drug and food testing laboratories in Rawalpindi is in final stages which would be completed soon.
