Effective mechanism being devised to monitor prices during Ramazan: DC

FAISALABAD: Divisional Commissioner (DC) Tahir Hussainsaid on Saturday that an effective mechanism is being devised for monitoring of prices of daily use commodities in order to provide maximum economic relief to the consumers during the holy month of Ramazan.

He announced that the hoarders and profiteers would be dealt with an iron hand besides curbing the adulteration mafia.

Presiding over a meeting to review Ramazan arrangements here on Saturday, he directed the ACs to control negative trend of artificial price hike.

He said that a control room should also be set up at Tehsil level toreceive complaints and its redressal without any delay.

The divisional Commissioner further directed that all arrangements regarding holding daily Ramazan Bazaars and implementation on Ramazan Package should be finalized one week before the commencement of Ramazan.

He said that close coordination between the consumers, media and civil society should be ensured and stock of flour, sugar, ghee, pulses and other essential items uninterrupted supply should also be insured in the market.

He directed that effective green channel system should also be activated for supply of fruits and vegetables directly in daily Ramazan Bazaars.

The Commissioner told that free food outlets at the time of Sehar and Iftaar should be arranged for deserving and needy people and local philanthropists should be mobilized in this regard.

He stressed the need of foolproof security arrangements during Ramazan at the time of Taraveeh prayers, Sehar and Iftaar.

He warned that any negligence, lethargy and poor performance would not be tolerated.

The meeting was attended by DCOs of Faisalabad division, TMOs and officers of health, industry and other departments.
