RAWALPINDI: A grand anti-encroachment operation to remove all kinds of encroachments from different areas of Rawal Town before Ramazan-ul-Mubarik has been started here.
According to details, on the special instructions of administrator Rawal Town/Assistant Commissioner Saif Anwar Jappa raids under the supervision of Town Officers, Regulations/Price Control Magistrate Aftab Ahmed Chohan were conducted here at Bara Market, Raja Bazaar, Gunj Mandi, Liaquat Road, Sadiqabad, Kuri Road and other areas of the city to remove encroachments. Nearly nine truckloads of goods were confiscated during the operation and deposited in the store while Rs 35,000 was fined to the shopkeepers on encroachments.
Meanwhile in other raids conducted here to check profiteering and less weight of "Roti" at Tandoors, by Town Officer, Regulation/Price Control Magistrate Aftab Ahmed Chohan in different markets of the city. The raiding team arrested seven persons on violation of the law. Ijaz, Saqi Muhammad, Israq Ahmed, Muhammad Naveed, Haseeb and Ifraz were booked on charge of less weight of "Roti" at Tandoors from different areas of the city.
Nizakat Ali, a milk man from Mazharabad was arrested as he was found indulged in profiteering. Several other shopkeepers were imposed fine amounting to Rs 5000.
