ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MNA Anjum Aqeel on Friday attended the National Assembly session after the assurance, given by the Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on the floor of the House and production order issued by the National Assembly Secretariat.

The PML-N MNA was in custody of Islamabad Police in a case registered in Shalimar police station.

He informed the House regarding the whole episode of his arrest and criticized the role of Islamabad Police.

The MNA said that he was arrested by Islamabad Police in a case which was lodged against him one and half year ago.

Aqeel said that when he was arrested and brought to Shalimar Police Station, his supporters and party workers reached there.

He allged that police party which was present on the occasion staged a fake drama and engaged party workers in a conflict with police.

He requested the House to constitute a committee to look into the matter and investigate why section 78ATA was imposed against him.

He said he would face the court and defend the cases registered against him.

Saad Rafiq said that the country's courts were independent and PML-N will accept the court's verdict in this case.

He claimed that Anjum Aqeel himself surrendered to the police but the capital police said he was arrested.

Rafiq also demanded constitution of National Assembly committee to probe Aqeel arrest case and submit its report in the House.

Abdul Qadir Khanzada informed the House that firing from unidentified persons in Maleer area had been frequent and asked the government to take notice of this, otherwise, it might to spread to other parts of the city, he said.

He said country is facing acute power shortage problem and suggested the government to generate electricity from alternative energy resources keeping in view the prevailing energy shortage.

Khawaja Sohail Mansoor said that the country's people are facing several problems including inflation, law and order and power shortage. He said that a concrete step should be taken for economic progress of the country

Abdul Qadir Baloch said that the law and order situation of Balochistan is getting worst and demanded immediate steps to maintain peace in the area.
