KARACHI: Member of the MQM Rabitta Committee, Raza Haroon has said that over 30 MQM workers were killed as a result of attacks by terrorists, Geo News reported.
He added that despite MQM appeals and requests, no arrangements were made to protect MQM workers and residents of Malir. “More than 50 terrorists from MQM-H and Lyari gangs riding motorcycles and cars attacked the homes of MQM workers,” he added. An MQM office was also attacked in Landhi Colony 1 and Haroon said the situation was controlled when Rangers entered the area.
Speaking on peace retuning to Karachi, the MQM MPA said until these terrorists were not caught peace could not be restored adding that ‘some ministers are protecting these elements’. The incidents had rekindled the memories of 19 June, 1992 and when MQM residences and offices were being attacked, the police and administration were silent spectators, Haroon added.
At least 16 people were killed throughout the day on Friday when armed groups clashed in the Malir and Landhi areas of the city.
