LAHORE: Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) is doing its best to maintain the beauty of the city during the ongoing rainy season.
Spokesperson of the PHA, Javaid Shaida while talking to APP said that PHA was responsible for the maintenance of parks and greenbelts in the city. He said it was difficult tomaintain plants and parks in rainy season as water accumulation badly affects plants.
He said as per directives of the Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, storm water was cleared immediately from ponds, parks and greenbelts after rain.
With this effort PHA has successfully saved many plants from decaying by rain water and also protected health of the public as storm water gathered in parks causes diseases. He said as fallen trees created problem in flow oftraffic, PHA staff cleard the roads on emergency basis.
He said new plants were also being planted with specialfocus on traditional trees of Lahore like Azadirachta Indica, Dalbergia sissoo, Ficus religiosa, andmulberry. These trees not only enhance the beauty of the city but are very useful in making environment healthy, he added.
