ISLAMABAD: A complete strike was observed by doctors in the Out-Patient Department (OPD) of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for the eleventh consecutive day on Friday to press the authorities to fulfill their demands.
This strike was observed on the appeal of Young Doctors Association (YDA). President of YDA Dr. Sajjid Abbasi told APP that the YDA Islamabad Chapter was observing strike for not meeting their demands of pay raise and service structure.
He said the doctors only performed duties in the Emergency Ward of the hospital while other services remained closed including the OPDs, operation theaters and other departments.
He said the authority was least interested in the resolution of doctors' problems and urged them to resolve their demands as early as possible so that doctors could do their job with peace of mind.
He claimed the authority concerned had issued the Career Structure of Health Personnel (CSHP) notification and promised to implement it from July 1, this year for those serving in the government institutions and related organizations functioning under the federal government.
He alleged the authority had failed to do so due to which the young doctors had decided to observe strike.
