ISLAMABAD: Members of the National Assembly (MNAs) constituencies on Wednesday asked the government to ensure smooth supply of electricity during Iftar and Sehr timings during the holly month of Ramzan.

Speaking on points of order in the National Assembly, they said that the ministry concerned had promised that there would be no power loadshedding during Iftar and Sehr hours but it had failed to fulfill its pledge.

Sardar Mansab Ali Dogar said that the people of Pakpatan and Bahawalnagar were facing severe loadshedding problem and asked to give relief to them during Ramzan.

Laek Muhammad said that the government was observing loadshedding in Mansehra district during Iftar, Sehr and Taraweeh timings during Ramaz-ul-Mubarak.

Maulana Abdul Malik said that the proceedings of National Assembly should be started as early as possible during Ramzan as the staff of Parliament House, who are living in far flung areas, should reach their homes in time for Iftari.

Mir Munawar Talpur said that the situation in Somalia was very unfortunate and appealed to the parliamentarians to allocate their one month salary for people of Somalia. Former Minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi said that a discriminatory attitude was meted to him regarding his case which was filed on false allegations.

He said that those who raised allegations on him had failed to prove them, however, media trial was still continuing against him. He said during year 2010 he didn't buy any property or there was any any increase in his assets.

Muneer Aurakzai said that the government should take the parliamentarians of FATA and PATA into confidence on new ordinance for maintaining peace in the area.

Participating debate on Karachi and Quetta situation, Syed Asif Hasnain said that the law and order situation in Karachi was getting worst and called for taking immediate steps to control the situation.

He said the government should monitor the activities of banned groups and criminals who are also active in Karachi and destabilizing the situation.

Earlier, on the suggestion of both treasury and opposition benches, Zahid Hamid moved a motion to suspend Question Hour and start debate on Karachi and Quetta situation which was adopted by the house.
