MULTAN: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday said that the mega development projects in South Punjab reflected the commitment of government to develop backward areas.

Talking to journalists at local airport before departure to Lahore, the Information Minister said that the development projects under way in South Punjab showed the Prime Minister's love for the people of backward areas and the party's vision to end a sense of deprivation of deprived segments of the society.

She said that the Pakistan Peoples Party -led government believed that the mega development projects could end the sense of deprivation of residents of under-developed areas.

She, however, added that while the PPP-led government was focusing on the uplift of backward areas, the Punjab Government was spending billions of rupees only on few road schemes which was a source of concern for the people of South Punjab.
