ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has set-up a price control cell for attending to complaints of consumers about over-charging of food items during Ramadan and taking urgent steps to attend their complaints with active price control mechanism.
The consumers can call at telephone No 9261504 and register their complaints at this cell. The official source said that prompt action would be taken by the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Amer Ali Ahmed by this cell about prices of food items and their quality.
He said that 16 special price checking teams headed by the Assistant Commissioners and Magistrates have been constituted for conducting extensive anti-profiteering drive in the city as well as rural areas and to ensure the provision of food items at the control rates during Ramadan.
The teams are conducting daily price checking in their areas and ensuring the implementation of rate list of food items. The shopkeepers have been asked to display the rate list of food items prominently and charge the fixed price. The administration, he said, is fixing the rates of fruits and vegetables on daily basis and strict watch is being kept over the prices of food items.
Separate control rooms at all the Sasta bazaars have also been set upfor convenience of the people in connection with registration of complaints about rates of food items and their quality.
Officials of various departments of the ICT Administration have been deployed at the sasta bazaars for convenience of people and complaints registers have also been placed at the control rooms in sasta bazaars.
The source said on the directive of the Deputy Commissioner that special meetings are being arranged with the traders to ensure adequate supply of food items, fruits and vegetables during the holy month of Ramadan.
