RAWALPINDI: In order to avert traffic jams on city roads, City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi is implementing a special traffic plan for Ramadan.
City Traffic Police has evolved a comprehensive plan to control traffic in Ramazan and in this regard all arrangements have also been made.
Traffic squads have been deployed at all main intersections of the city whereas a helpline has also been set up at Racecourse Traffic Office with deployment of special squad. The helpline will provide 24-hour help and assistance to the citizens.
Chief Traffic Officer, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Dr. Muhammad Azam told that Rawalpindi Traffic Police has formulated a comprehensive traffic plan for the provision of all possible facilities to the road users regarding traffic. He said, duty timing of traffic wardens has been increased aimed at ensuring the smooth traffic flow on city roads.
Dr. Azam said special arrangements have been made to control the traffic jams so that the citizens could easily reach at their destinations within shortest possible time.
He said in view of the security of the citizens, special traffic arrangements have been made. Parking of vehicles near Mosques, Imam Bargahs and other religious places would not be allowed.
Under the plan, traffic police officers have been directed to keep a vigilant eye on suspicious vehicles. Strict action in accordance with the law has also been ordered against vehicles having tinted glasses or moving in the city without number plates, he added.
Dr. Azam said traffic wardens have also been directed to work with dedication and commitment and ensure the traffic flow so that traffic mess particularly on congested roads could be averted and the citizens could be provided relief during the holy month.
Under the traffic plan, all out efforts would be made by city traffic police to ensure the smooth flow of traffic on city roads mainly for "Iftar" timing, he added.
He informed that senior Traffic Officer Syed Ishtiaq Hussain Shah is supervising the all arrangements made for Ramadan.
In order to provide relief to the citizens, strict action against transporters charging exorbitant fares from passengers have also been ordered, he said.
