PESHAWAR: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued stringent orders for anyoneviolating its directives over the coronavirus pandemic, according to anotification issued Tuesday by the provincial relief department.
The government announced that violators could face at least a year in jail, as well as fines. The sentence may be bumped up to two years as well, the notification warned.
The department further mentioned that officers had the authority to take action in this regard in line with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Act, 2010.
Moreover, district deputy commissioners were advised to issue notices wherever and whenever necessary.
So far, the northwestern province has reported 15 confirmed cases of the cornavirus, while the national tally has hit 237.
