PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will celebrate 64th Independence Day on Sunday in a befitting manner by holding varieties of programmes and events throughout the province.
The day will dawn with special thanksgiving prayers in all the mosques and other places of worships and sweets will be distributed among all the orphanages and Darul Amans with special meal for the prisoners across the province.
According to a circular issued by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Governor Barrister Masood Kausar and Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti will host special receptions in the provincial metropolis and will also attend national flag hoisting ceremonies.
Special exhibitions of photographs, documents etc relating to the Pakistan Movement will also be arranged in different public and private institutions of the province. Moreover, Qirat contests, Debates, Essay competitions will also be arranged at different levels.
In different schools of the provincial metropolis and other parts, exhibitions of documentary films for school children as well as the general public will also be arranged.
In Peshawar cultural mushairas will also be held to focus on the sacrifices of the Muslims during the freedom movement. In this connection all the concerned and authorized quarters have been directed to ensure that the programs so far scheduled regarding the Independence Movement could fully be participated by the general public.
The general people will be provided facilities to make their easy participation in the programs.
In Peshawar the eye-catching and much awaited flag hoisting ceremony will be held at Jinnah Park Peshawar where the biggest and specially prepared flag by a Karachi based Fabric Company will be hoisted at a highest tower up to 200 feet. Senior Minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour will grace the occasion as chief guest.
Similarly, a flag hoisting ceremony has been planned at Memorial site of Shuhada-e-Police inside the police line premises where Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti will be the chief guest.
To mark the Independence Day, various sports activities have also been planned by the Pakistan Sports Board Coaching Center, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Board and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association along with the Directorate of Sports FATA.(APP)
