FAISALABAD: Hundreds of villagers including women, children and aged persons staged a demonstration against attitude of the SHO Police Station Thikriwala and demanded action against him on patronizing criminals.

The protesters claimed that cases of heinous crimes were not registered accordingly and when the villagers succeed in rounding up criminals and handing over them to police, they were released without taking appropriate action in terms of law.

The villagers also alleged that incidents of theft, street crimes and cattle lifting have become order of the day while the area police are playing a role of spectator only. On this occasion, one Haleema Bibi told to the media persons that her husband Khalid was killed in Ameen Pur Bungalow about two days ago and his dead body was also removed from the scene.

She further alleged that despite lodging complaint, the area police are reluctant to register case against the accused Suleman, Accho and others.

She demanded registration of case of her husband's murder and arrest of the accused.

The demonstrators also chanted slogans against SHO Thikriwala and suspended vehicular traffic for hours together on Faisalabad-University Road in front of City District Government Complex.

However, the protesters dispersed peacefully when the DSP Civil Line assured them that their grievances would be redressed on priority basis and action would also be taken against all those police officials who found guilty on charge of patronizing the criminals.
