KARACHI: The death toll in Karachi violence has increased to seven who were killed in firing and torture incidents since midnight, Geo News reported Friday. The situation in the old city area is still tense.
On Thursday 38 people were killed in torture and firing incidents in different parts of the metropolis.
According to police, a body was found from New Karachi sector 11-G area of Karachi while a bullet-riddled body of a youth was also found in gunny bag near Kharadar Jamatkhana ahead of fast.
A man was gunned down in Gulshan-e-Iqbal no.5 while three people injured in PIB and Sheerin Jinnah colony succumbed to injuries in hospital.
On Thursday 38 people were killed and their bodies were found from Lyari, Baldia Town, Pak Colony, Manghopir and other areas who were killed after being kidnapped.
A body was also found from Lyari Nadi bearing torture marks while unknown men opened fire in Landhi Sherpao Colony that killed one man and injured eleven others including a child.
Police and Rangers conducted a combined operation after violent exchange of fire between two groups in Godhra area and arrested several people. Additional forces have also been deployed owing to tense situation in the area.
The fresh spate of violence started on Wednesday with killing of former MNA along with 15 others.
