HYDERABAD: District Administration Badin has increased the number of relief camps to 280 to provide shelter to as many people as possible from among 1.2 million people affected by the recent flash floods.

DCO Badin Kazim Hussain Jatoi told this news agency on Friday that Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza and Provincial Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza were keenly monitoring the rescue and relief activities.

He said that in order to prevent any outbreak of diseases doctors of Peoples Primary Healthcare Initiative and of the district and provincial governments have been assigned at every relief camp who perform duties in shifts.

The DCO said that the Speaker of the National Assembly presided over a meeting on Friday which was attended by Sindh Secretary Irrigation Khalid Azhar Memon, Sindh Secretary Health Rizwan Ahmed, Chairman Pakistan Baitul Mal Zamrud Khan and executive district officers of different government departments.

Earlier, the Dr Fehmida Mirza visited several relief camps where she distributed relief goods among the people. (APP)
